Over 600 Students at the Meetings with Adrian Despot, Dorian Boguță and Vlad Irimia

Over 600 students from Sibiu listen to the advice received from artists Adrian Despot, Dorian Boguță and Vlad Irimia, at the “Cum m-am recrutat” (editor’s translation: “How I recruited myself”) event, organized by CGS Romania, in partnership with the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, last week, in Sibiu.

Adrian Despot

The main lecture hall of the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu was packed on the first day of the event, when Adrian Despot, lead of the Vița de Vie band took the floor. One of the first things he confessed before the students was that he never wished to be successful in life, success just came along.  He emphasized that true success is the one built by each and every single person, based on his/her “emotions”, “needs” and “list of failures”.

‘You must be present in your lives. Never ignore an opportunity because it is that glimmer pulling you towards it and helping you find your way. I believe that the true success is the one you build with your own emotions, needs and list of failures. I believe that failure is important because it helps you avoid making the same mistake twice. You cannot understand failure unless it is yours, unless you assume it’, stated Adrian Despot before over 250 students. In addition, Dorian Boguță, actor, director and producer reminisced before the students about the day when he left Chișinău to come to Bucharest, at 28, with the single purpose of becoming an actor. ‘Believe in yourselves, follow you dream and be patient. Be honest with yourselves and, somewhere, sometime, a door will open’, added Boguță.

Asked by the students when he first felt success, he told a story from when he was in Timișoara. ‘I was shooting the “De azi înainte” film, which focuses on the relationship between a father and a son. At the end, a gentleman approached me and asked me to give him the CD with the film because he was dealing with the exact same problem with his own son. That was the moment when I realized I am successful’, told Dorian Boguță at the “Cum m-am recrutat” event, organized by CGS Romania and the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.

Vlad Irimia one of the founders of B.U.G. Mafia closed the three days of the event. In a hall packed with people, Vlad Irimia began his speech before the students by telling them that ‘according to the statistics, I will not live a thousand years, not even a hundred’.

From his perspective, ’trying to be successful in life without thorough planning is like trying to compose a symphony without knowledge of music.’ He added that choosing the path, managing time, having the courage and determining the clear steps are some of the most important elements of being successful in life.

‘It is complicated to be successful, it is nothing like the movies in which everything leads to a happy end. Movies never show what happens afterwards. It is easy to have success once, but lasting success is something which takes a whole lot of work’, added the artist.

The Pro-rector of the “Lucian Blaga” University, Livia Ilie, declared that the notoriety of celebrities and their availability to confess, to share their life lessons with the students were the perfect combination for a successful event, which filled the main lecture hall of the University, to its full capacity.

‘The “Cum m-am recrutat. Povești cu mine și despre tine” event was a premiere organized by at the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, in cooperation with CGS Romania. Our students met with three artists they know; instead of listening to their music, the students listened to their life lessons.

So, they found out that success does not come easily in any field, nonetheless in the artistic one. During the three meetings, our students were able to discover that the key ingredients to success are basically the same: passion, work, involvement, sacrifice and courage. The students appreciated this event and considered it to be ‘motivating, extraordinary, brilliant, superb, heart-warming, interesting, productive, moving and comprehensive’. I believe that the success of this event was a combination between the notoriety of the celebrities, which determined the students who filled the main lecture hall of the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu and the impressive responsibility of the artists who made an effort of introspection into their own evolution and their willingness to share their life lessons with the students’, declared Livia Ilie, Pro-rector of the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.

Each meeting of the students at the University of Sibiu was followed by a Q&A session, during which the students tried to discover as much as possible about the life of the three artists.
